Jewelry Design: Sketch to Stone
Explore the design process that comes before fabrication. This class focuses on the fundamentals that shape strong jewelry pieces and how to translate ideas into workable designs before metal is ever cut.
Students will examine proportion, scale, line, balance, structure, and wearability while learning how jewelry designers think through form and construction. Through guided prompts and sketch exercises, participants will develop clear concepts that can later become finished pieces.
Each student receives a sketchbook to begin building a personal design practice.
Techniques Covered:
Jewelry-specific design fundamentals
Sketching and planning a piece
Visual balance, scale, and proportion
Structural thinking and wearability
Translating inspiration into buildable projects
Materials:
A sketchbook and drawing materials are included.
Skill Level:
Beginner to intermediate. No prior metalsmithing experience required.
